An Eco-Teen’s Blog: Why Join Haribon
By Andrei Celestial
Many people nowadays are so busy with different things. They are always on their gadgets or fantasizing new trends. We get our attention on so many things that we sometimes forget about what matters. Many people no longer think about the environment.
Mother Nature is now in a bad condition because of climate change, pollution and other harmful human activities. Sadly, people are not so mindful about this.
Mostly, people who take care of the environment live an eco-friendly lifestyle or practice the 3Rs or the Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. It’s a job well done for yourself, the people around you and the environment. But why settle for that when you can do more, and when you can learn more on how to do more? Why not join an environmental organization like Haribon?
I recently became a member of the Haribon Foundation. Even though I am not much of a nature kid, I am already excited to do the different activities. As a 13-year-old, I want to help out in protecting and preserving the environment for future generations.
Being part of an environmental group also exposes you to different outdoor activities. If you have fear of bugs or anything in the outdoors, you’ll probably outmatch them along the way as you get closer to nature.
Lastly, these organizations give you the chance to meet different people. For me, this is the most important part. With different people come different minds. We can talk about many different ways on how to save our planet. It becomes a team effort!
In the end, joining an environmental club or organization is an individual choice. However, I will highly recommend it because for me, it is truly a life-changing experience.
