The Philippines is known for its rich avifaunal diversity. It is home to over 600 species – about 6% of the world’s known birds. Almost one third of the species described in the Philippines are endemic proving the country’s high rate of avifaunal endemicity. Unfortunately, the population trend for most if not all of these birds are that of decline.
