With more than 600 species of birds in the Philippines (30% of them endemic or can only be found in the Philippines) a review of the effectiveness of national laws concerning the conservation of bird species was made.
By overlapping maps of Protected Areas established by national laws and maps of Important Bird Areas (IBAs) in the country, it was found that 80.85% of these IBAs are still not covered under the nationally-recognized Protected Areas.
Learn more about the status of our birds and who is partnering under the banner of bird and biodiversity conservation to fill in the 80.85% gap.
