Haribon’s Nature-based Solutions (NbS) and Biodiversity-Friendly Enterprises (BDFE) programs show that protecting ecosystems can go hand in hand with improving livelihoods.

By helping communities restore forests, rivers, and coasts while developing sustainable income sources, Haribon ensures that conservation and human well-being grow together.

These approaches make conservation practical and lasting. Restoring degraded landscapes and creating sustainable livelihoods strengthen ecosystem services such as clean water, soil fertility, and climate regulation, while helping communities become more resilient to disasters and climate change.

Haribon projects with NbS and BDFE implementation:

  • Project AGOS – Safeguarding the Aklan River Watershed through ecosystem restoration, local governance, and community participation.
  • Women Go – Empowering rural women in the REINA region (Quezon) to lead nature-based livelihood and conservation efforts.
  • WePhili – Supporting community-led sustainable practices in key biodiversity areas through inclusive conservation planning.
  • Forests For Life – Forest restoration initiatives in partnership with local stakeholders to rehabilitate watersheds and protect biodiversity.
