EDGE stands for Evolutionarily Distinct and Globally Endangered, a project funded by the Zoological Society of London.
Marine biologist Gregorio E. dela Rosa, Jr. conducted studies on 3 unique and endangered coral species around the island of Polillo: Mushroom coral (Heliofungia actiniformis), Bubble coral (Physogyra lichtensteini), and Elegance coral (Catalaphyllia jardinei).
