If you could be anything in an ecosystem, what would you be?

If you could be anything found in an ecosystem, what would you be, and why?

Richelle Josephine Juanbe

If you could be anything found in an ecosystem, what would you be, and why?

I would be an earthworm. Despite its silence and solitude, it nourishes the soil for the plants. It remains hidden beneath the soil and its fertilizers encourage growth and the sustainability of nutrients. Though hidden beneath the soil, earthworms fertilize the whole forest, as well as our crops. One does not have to be seen to change to the world.

Why do you want to join/renew Haribon Membership?

I want a mutual and harmonious existence between humans and environment. Nature should not only be present but also sustained and abundant so that people and other living creatures will not face scarcity of food and water.

If you could be anything found in an ecosystem, what would you be, and why?

I would be an earthworm because I’m pro-life. The earthworm’s role in the ecosystem is phenomenal. Without it, I would not know how other living organisms could thrive.

Why do you want to join/renew Haribon Membership?

The biodiversity crisis is real! I have always loved nature which led me to study Biology. Through the years I have observed the changes that slowly deteriorate its beauty. It saddens me that we are too busy with life, owning whatever we can. It is the opposite for nature, it is losing whatever it has.

With this, being a member of Haribon is one of the steps for me to be involved and be part of the advocacy; we must work as one.

If you could be anything found in an ecosystem, what would you be, and why?

I would be the trees because it takes plenty of different roles to serve the entire ecosystem. The environmental distress that is happening now can be attributed to the dwindling number of trees. The habitats of animals and biodiversity is challenged, to the brink of extinction.

Why do you want to join/renew Haribon Membership?

As a teacher, the most practical yet feasible contribution I can do for the conservation of the environment is by sharing information and education to all my students and the entire community. The influence of the teacher, if channeled in the right way, can be limitless.

If you could be anything found in an ecosystem, what would you be, and why?

I’d want to become a better human, bold and committed in protecting the ecosystem meant to protect me as well.

Why do you want to join/renew Haribon Membership?

I believe in the mission of Haribon. I believe in their efforts in preserving and promoting biodiversity and I want to be part of that too! I want to help create the awareness and help in protecting not only Earth but also the future of the next generations. I would hate to think that the next generation would only see the beauty of God’s creation in museums. I believe that God empowered us to do what needs to be done. We just need to be committed to doing it, and being better :).
