1. Largest in the World
The majestic Haring Ibon is the largest eagle in the whole planet in terms of wingspan – that is about 7 feet or 2 meters!
2. Critically Endangered
Found nowhere else in the world, only about 400 pairs of Philippine Eagles are left in the wild. Sadly, they are continuously threatened with hunting and forest loss.
3. Eagle Eye
The National Bird can spot the fastest prey flying alongside them and pick out the smallest forest mice for breakfast – hence the Eagle Eye.
4. Together Forever
Once paired, the Philippine Eagle couple remains together for the rest of their lives! It also lays a single egg every two years.
5. Forest as Kingdom
The forest is the only home of the Philippine Eagle. They need 10,000 hectares of forest or equivalent to 10,000 football fields to spread their wings and raise a chick.
To protect the Haring Ibon, we must protect their home.
Our work on conserving the Philippine Eagle began in its founding years as The Haribon Society. Started in the 70s, its conservation work continues on to this day to protect the Haring Ibon.
