Tourism Promotions Board Philippines and Haribon Foundation once again joined forces in a meaningful conservation initiative, highlighting their shared commitment to preserving the Philippines' natural heritage. The two-day corporate social responsibility program, held last August 23-24, 2023, showcased the power of collaboration in advancing forest conservation and community engagement.

At Haribon Foundation, our work in forest restoration champions Philippine Native Tree Species, recognizing their crucial role in protecting and sustaining all forms of life within our natural forests. Together with TPB's eagerness to contribute to environmental conservation, as demonstrated during their visit to the La Mesa Nature Reserve and the Southern Sierra Madre Mountains, the partnership strengthens efforts to empower biodiversity champions and continue forest restoration efforts.

The two-day began with an educational journey through  La Mesa Nature Watershed, where participants gained valuable insights into the significance of Philippine native trees in maintaining biodiversity. This was followed by a hands-on community native nursery activity in Baranggay San Andres, Tanay, Rizal, where TPB members learned proper seedling preparation techniques from our community partners.

Our approach at Haribon has always been to engage with community partners to create impactful change from the ground up. We believe that by working directly with local communities, we can ensure that Filipinos understand and appreciate the value and beauty of our natural heritage. This philosophy was evident in the program's second day, where TPB participated in our Forest for Life Movement's Adopt-A-Seedling Program, successfully planting 1,299 native seedlings in the Southern Sierra Madre Mountain Range.

The partnership between Haribon Foundation and the Tourism Promotions Board spans many years, and we deeply value this collaboration that stands on promoting and protecting what is truly Filipino. TPB's Chief Operating Officer Margarita Montemayor Nograles emphasized how these conservation activities align with their goal of making the Philippines a sustainable and uniquely diverse travel destination.

The Sierra Madre Mountain Range, being the country's longest mountain range and a crucial natural barrier against strong storms, represents the kind of natural heritage that both organizations strive to protect. Through this partnership, we continue to demonstrate how organizations and conservation can work hand in hand to preserve our country's natural wonders for future generations.

At Haribon Foundation, we look forward to continuing this meaningful partnership, combining our expertise in forest conservation with TPB's dedication to sustainable tourism, ensuring that our natural heritage remains protected while being appreciated by visitors from around the world.
